An Audience With Jeanette!

My Very First Author Appearance happened on the evening of Monday, 6th December 2021. Hosted by fellow author, Ceri Williams, and supported by our little group of ‘Creatives’ – authors Drew Neary, Claire Sheldon, Ali Jeffries, Saffron Armatti and Debbie Hawker, I was ‘in the spotlight’ in the function room of Copper Cogs. My audience was able to ask me questions about my writing – some of which I found hard to answer, but we had some great discussions, and quite a few laughs. To avoid me having to do all the talking, five people did some short readings from a book of mine of their choice. It was a surreal experience for me, hearing my work being read by others and thinking ‘gosh, did I really write that?’ My thanks go to Ceri, Drew, Sue, Daizi and my husband Tony for the superb job they did in reading for me.

The venue is special to our family as one of our sons shares ownership with his business partner and Tony and I have been involved in its creation from barren and featureless space to a lovely, atmospheric venue for eating and drinking. The ‘Creatives @ Cogs’ are thrilled to be able to use their special function room for local people to gather to meet authors who live among them and we are excited to feel this venture will go from strength to strength in the coming year. We’ve already made a great start with Ceri and Drew talking about their book, ‘The Clockmaker’ in October, the Hawker family talking about what we can do to help our planet in November and finally, me. Next year we will feature other local author evenings and also writing workshops for those interested in writing and enhancing their skills.
